Do you Trust your Health Insurance Company?
Whether or not you trust your health insurance company may not sound like a big deal if you are 100 percent healthy. But remember, you purchased health insurance for a reason. This means you know something could go wrong in the future. If you do not trust your health insurance company you could find yourself in a bad position the first time you have to rely on your coverage. It is better to know what you have in terms of coverage than to wait too long and find that you are in a bad position.
Whether or not you trust your health insurance company should be based on many details. Does your company do what they say? If so, you know that they live by their word. For instance, a company that says they will charge you one thing but then increases your premium without notice is not one that you want to buy from. This may not seem like a big deal the first time, but soon enough you will find that this attitude is showing up in other areas as well.
Has your health insurance company burnt you in the past? For example, maybe you were told that your policy would cover a particular procedure just to find that you were lied to. Unfortunately, this happens all too often. If this happens to you, a red flag should go up. There is nothing wrong than being lied to about what your health insurance will cover.
If you can trust your health insurance company you should value this. On the other hand, if your provider is always making changes you should consider you options. It is not as difficult as you may think to find a new health insurance provider who won't give you the run around.
