Coverage Provided Under HO-4 Renters Insurance
Renters insurance is typically classified as a HO-4 homeowners insurance policy in most states. An HO-4 renters insurance policy is generally divided into four parts.
- Coverage C: Insures your personal property against damage or loss. This includes possessions like DVD's, furniture, some sports equipment, clothes, cameras and others.
- Coverage D: Loss of use coverage which pays additional living expenses if your rental needs to be repaired or rebuilt due to an insured peril. Limits are expressed as a percentage or specific time limit.
- Coverage E: Personal liability protection in the event you cause damage or injury to another person, or property.
- Coverage F: Pays medical expenses up to a certain limit for someone injured in an incident that you are liable for.
