Personal Property Coverage For Renters
Renters insurance can give the policyholder a certain measure of personal property coverage. Very rare, expensive or specialized items may not be covered on a standard policy. It is important to look at what types of possessions are covered on your renters insurance contract since policies can differ.
In general, these kinds of belongings are included under personal property coverage:
- Electronic equipment- stereos, radios, mp3 players, DVR's, VCR's, video game consoles, cameras
- Electronic media- video games, DVD's, CD's, tapes, videos
- Sports Equipment- bikes, skis
- Literature
- Furniture
- Dishware
Some items may not be fully covered, covered at all, or may need the purchase of an additional rider to the policy. This could include computers, coin collections, comic books, antiques, fine art, boats, jewelry, furs and even fine silverware. Check out renters insurance carriers to ascertain what type of coverage you need and what riders are available to add on to your policy.
