Residual Disability Payments
Disability benefits vary from one insurance company to the next, so it makes sense to be aware of the terms before you ever become disabled. Some policies only cover accidents. Others may only cover disability due to an illness. There are also disability insurance policies that cover both illness and injury. It is more likely that you will become disabled due to an illness than by an injury.
It is possible to receive disability benefits and still work. If you become disables and are unable to do all of the tasks in your occupation, and thus have a reduced salary, you may be able to receive residual benefits. Residual payments help make up for the income you lost by becoming disabled.
There are many benefits to having a disability insurance policy. Not only can they help replace a percentage of your income, but some provide rehabilitation services to help you get your old job back, or a new one that you can fulfill with.
